12 must-haves in your motorcycle first aid kit

Ride freely, but ride responsibly

Motorcycle riding is a rewarding experience.  While you command the two wheels you are also at risk. That is why taking precaution and equipping yourself with safety gear and first aid kit is important, it might save your life after all!

The importance of first aid

For those who love to ride, remote regions such as coastal highways make the best routes! On these rough terrains, motorcycles like the Yamaha YBR 125G provide optimum safety with features like block pattern tires and rubber bouts. However, with questionable roads and the lack of social infrastructure and mobile networks in Pakistan, adventurous riding remains risky even with proper safety gear.

When the nearest hospital is hundreds of kilometers away, the significance of first aid cannot be understated! By giving yourself or having someone else give you first aid, you can avoid injuries from evolving into seriously unfortunate incidents.

Here are some basic items that your first aid box needs:

  • Band-aids
  • 5 Large Sterile Gauze Pads (for bleeding)
  • Antiseptic Wipes
  • Instant Cold Pack/s
  • Antibiotic Ointment or powder- Individual packets
  • Burn cream or gel
  • Anti-microbial Hand Cleaner
  • Clean tweezers
  • Latex gloves
  • Curved scissors
  • Triangular Bandage (For padding in case of fractures)
  • Other medicines (for fever, cough and other regular ailments)

First aid can never replace a trained medical staff treatment but it will buy you some time in reaching the hospital.

So, are you planning to go on a long motorcycle trip? Don’t forget to make your own first aid box and keeping it along your luggage!
